Seiko Epson Unveils OLED Panel with Longer Lifespan and Deeper Black
October 26, 2007
Japanese Seiko Epson has successfully developed OLED (Organic Electroluminescent) panel with longer lifespan, enabling it to better compete with LCD panel.

Featuring a deeper black tone, the OLED panel can provide a lifespan of 50,000 hours, much higher than the 30,000 hours of conventional OLED panel. The panel will initially be used in eight-inch monitors aimed at the enterprise market, and will be applied to larger models such as 21-inch monitors and flat-panel TVs in the future.

Seiko Epson has established an OLED production line in its Fujimi Plant located in Japan's Nagano prefecture. Annual production capacity of this line is expected to reach several thousand units.
