VisEra Technologies to Start CMOS Image Sensor CF Film Production
September 14, 2007
VisEra Technologies, a joint venture between Taiwan's TSMC and US-based OmniVision, commenced equipment installation at its first production facility and R&D center for 12-inch CMOS image sensor CF (Color Filter) films, according to Taiwanese Commercial Times. Located in the Hsinchu Science Park of Taiwan, VisEra's new premises occupy an area of 1.8 hectare, incorporating an R&D center, 8- and 12-inch CF film production lines, as well as a packaging and testing line. The company expects to start mass production following the completion of trial production and product certification in November 2007. 0.11- and 0.13-micron process technologies will be employed in the initial phase, with further plans to migrate to 90-nm process technology in 2008.
