Huawei to Expand R&D Center in Bengaluru, India
August 24, 2007
Following obtaining a US$200 million network expansion contract from India's Reliance in July 2007 to expand the Indian telecom's CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) networks, Huawei recently announced plans to expand its R&D operations in India. Huawei is expected to recruit 700 more R&D workers over the next two years for its Bengaluru R&D center, currently operating with a staff of 1,300. As Huawei's largest R&D facility outside China, this Bengaluru unit is mainly dedicated to the development of fixed-line networks, network management, intelligent networks, and software associated with mobile phones.
