TD-SCDMA Update

- Shanghai-based integrated circuit designer Chipnuts Technology recently announced that it has forged a strategic alliance with Chongqing CYIT (Chongyou Information Technology) of China. Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop TD-SCDMA technologies for mobile phone applications, including a dual-mode Smartphone platform incorporating GSM and TD-SCDMA technologies.

- According to Chinese-language Sina News, Hong Kong-based wireless solution provider Comba recently announced that it has developed a TD-SCDMA RRU (Remote Radio Unit) solution, accelerating the speed of deployment for TD-SCDMA networks. This new device, designed to improve the coverage of base stations with a limited footprint, has been employed in China's homegrown 3G network trials. Furthermore, Comba claimed that it has landed the first RRU order from a leading Chinese TD-SCDMA base station maker, whose name was not disclosed though.
