As a follow-up to an Asia Express dated December 22, 2006, Japanese optical glass maker Hoya has announced a planned friendly takeover of camera maker Pentax, which will thus become Hoya's wholly-owned subsidiary. Hoya offers to pay 770 Yen (US$6.3; US$1 = 121.7 Yen) per share for the controlling stake in Pentax, bringing the sum of the takeover deal to approximately 105 billion Yen (US$862.6).
