Taiwan's Homegrown miCARD Obtains MMCA Approval

A new memory card standard miCARD (multimedia interface CARD), developed by a consortium of Taiwanese companies headed by Taiwan's ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), has been approved by US-based MMCA (MultiMediaCard Association) as an international memory card standard. Boasting a throughput of 60MBps, a capacity of 2048GBs, and a dimension of 12x21x1.95mm, miCARD is expected to enter mass production in the third quarter of 2007. Detailed specifications will be published by MMCA in June.
