Samsung Kicks off Construction of Slovakian LCD Module Plant

Samsung announced on May 1 that it will inject a total of 400 billion Won (US$431.0 million; US$ 1 = 928.0 Won) in its new LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) module facility located in Voderady, western Slovakia. With operation scheduled for early 2008, the new facility is expected to churn out an annual capacity of 12 million modules for LCD TVs by 2010. Recently, with an initial investment of 147.4 billion Won (US$158.8 million), the company has begun building two production lines in April 30.
