Samsung, Hynix to Move NAND Flash Production Overseas in 2H 2007

According to Korea's Electronic Times, Samsung plans to add an extra production line in the fourth quarter of 2007 at its existing plant in Austin, the United States, for NAND flash memory chips. The facility is slated to begin shipments in late 2007.
Meanwhile, Hynex also announced its plan to move production of 60-nanometer NAND flash memory chips to its Wuxi plant in the third quarter of 2007 at the earliest. Located in Jiangsu Province, China under the joint-venture with STMicroelectronics, this plant consists of 8- and 12-inch chip production lines, currently fabricating DRAM (Dynamic random Access Memory) chips
