Sumitomo to Set Up OEL Panel Plant; Mitsui to Up OEL Material Capacity

Japanese Sumitomo Chemical recently announced that it plans to build an OEL (Organic Electro-Luminescent) panel plant in Japan for approximately five billion Yen (US$42.1 million; US$1=118.7 Yen), which is said to kick off production by 2008. Meanwhile, Japanese Mitsui Chemicals also plans to add an extra amount in its current Osaka plant for luminescent materials used in OEL panels, but the exact amount was not yet disclosed.
