Hua Hong NEC Gains Access to Cypress' 0.13um SONOS Technology
April 20, 2007
Chinese foundry Shanghai Hua Hong NEC Electronics and US Cypress Semiconductor have signed an agreement on a 0.13um SONOS (Silicon Oxide Nitride Oxide Silicon) embedded NVM (Non-Volatile Memory) technology licensing deal. Under the agreement, Hua Hong NEC will be able to use Cypress Semiconductor's said technology in its smart cards, MCUs (Microcontroller Unit), and RFIDs (Radio-Frequency Identification). In addition to cost-effectiveness, SONOS memory boasts high endurance, low power, radiation hardness, as well as compatibility with CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) technologies.
