Sony JV Field Emission Technologies Unveils 19.2-inch FED Panel

Field Emission Technologies, a joint venture between Sony and TechGate Investment, has developed a 19.2-inch next-generation FED (Field Emission Display) panel, featuring a 1,280 x 960 resolution, a brightness of 400cd/m2, and a 20,000:1 contrast ratio. Field Emission Technologies aims to develop 24- to 26-inch FED panels and commercialize the products by June 2008, in preparation for market launch in 2009. The company plans to target the FED panels initially at corporate customers, including broadcasters and game developers.
