As a follow up to an Asia Express dated April 4, 2006, Hitachi is said to defer the plan of constructing its third PDP (Plasma Display Panel) plant by at least six months, from the original March to late 2007. Despite the delay, resulting from sharp price declines and sluggish demand for PDP TVs, the company is planning to double the annual capacity of its two existing PDP plants in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan to four million units by the end of 2007.
