Haier Confirms Acquisition of PC Maker Founder

Chinese home appliance maker Haier has confirmed its plan to purchase a dominant stake in Founder, China's second largest PC maker next only to Lenovo. According to WorldJournal.com, Haier is expected to pay approximately 400 million RMB (US$51.2 million; US$1 = 7.8 RMB) for a 10% stake in Founder, thereby becoming Founder's controlling stakeholder. Following the acquisition, Haier's IT product procurement from Taiwan is envisaged to be on the same par with that of Lenovo.
