Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology to Set Up New Production Line

TMD (Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology) announced on November 30 that it plans to spend 30 billion Yen (US$261 million; US$1 = 115 Yen) to build a new production line for small- and medium-sized LTPS (Low-Temperature Poly-Silicon) TFT LCD (Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panels at its existing Ishikawa plant. The new line is scheduled to begin operations in October 2007, with an expected monthly capacity of three million units. Production at TMD's Ishikawa plant is expected to hit 8.5 million units by January 2008, with the company's total monthly capacity to reach around 15 million units.
