CMO to Adopt Philips' HCFL for 42" and above LCD TVs
December 01, 2006
Taiwanese CMO recently claimed that it plans to leverage Philips' HCFL (Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamps) for its 42-inch and above LCD TVs, aiming to replace the traditional CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps) for use in large-size TV panels. According to CMO, devices featuring this new technology will hit the market in 2007. Compared with CCFL, HCFL offers better contrast, higher brightness, lower power consumption, and faster response. Besides CMO, Korean LPL's (LG Philips LCD) 42-inch LCD TVs have already adopted this technology as well.
