Wintek to Set Up Mobile Phone Panel Plant in India

Wintek, a leading Taiwan-based mobile phone panel maker, announced on November 21 that it will construct a new mobile phone panel plant in Nokia's Special Economic Zone, claiming to be the world's first mobile phone panel maker to invest in India. The new facility, mainly to fulfill Nokia's demand for mobile phone displays, is expected to kick off mass production in the fourth quarter of 2007, with an expected monthly capacity of nine million units. Future potential customers include Motorola, Flextronics, and Foxconn.
