Samsung Develops High-resolution 3D Display
October 27, 2006
Korea's MOCIE (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy) announced Samsung has developed a new high-resolution dual-capacity 3D display which enables viewing 3D images on flat-panel displays without the aid of special filter glasses. The new display, developed by a state-funded research team led by Samsung, is capable of switching between 3D and 2D modes without affecting the resolution. Samsung has been successful in building a 17-inch monitor prototype and is planning to develop a 19-inch model in the near future. The MOCIE expects the new display to be commercialized by 2009.
