HP to Invest US$22.2 Mln in Second Manufacturing Plant in India

HP has announced a plan to invest 1 billion Indian Rupees (US$22.2 million; US$1=45.1 INR) in building a second manufacturing plant in India. HP will manufacture desktop and notebook PCs, workstations, and servers in this new facility in Pantnagar, which is located in the state of Uttaranchal. This plant is projected to start operations in March 2007 and turn out 300,000 units per month initially. It is estimated that some 1,000 people will be employed at the facility.
