JVC Develops Thinner Rear-Projection TVs

Japanese JVC has developed manufacturing technology which reduces the thickness of rear-projection TVs by 40%, improving the competitive edge of rear-projection TVs against LCD and plasma TVs. A 60-inch model will therefore be 20 centimeters thinner - down to 27 from 47 centimeters - than existing models and can even be hung on the wall. TVs made with the new technology are slated for rollout in 2007.
