Sony to Build New LCD TV Plant in Slovakia
September 21, 2006
Sony recently announced its 11-billion-Yen (US$93.6 million; US$1 = 117.5 Yen) investment plan for a new LCD TV plant in the western Slovak town of Nitra. Sony's first Slovak plant in Trnava will be shut down subsequently, with the entire staff transferred to the new facility, which is expected to augment its workforce to more than 3,000. The new plant is projected to start operations sometime between August and September 2007 and to turn out three million Bravia-branded LCD TVs annually.
