Zentek to Develop Low-Priced DTV Modules with Taiwanese Partners
September 15, 2006
Japan-based Zentek Technology Group is to team up with ASUSTek and another Taiwanese electronic part maker to develop low-priced DTV (Digital Television) modules combining tuner and image-formatting functions. Such integrated modules are expected to cut the price by half. Zentek will be responsible for the operating software; ASUTek is to develop module microchips, and assembly will be taken up by the Taiwanese electronic part supplier. This low-priced module is projected to be available by the end of fiscal 2007 and bring in sales of two to three billion Yen (US$17 to 25.5 million; US$1 = 117.5 Yen) in the first year.
