Canon, Toshiba to Construct SED TV Production Line in Late 2006

Canon and Toshiba are set to start construction on a SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) TV production line by the end of 2006. Both sides plan to invest a total of 180 billion Yen (US$1.5 billion; US$1 = 117.6 Yen) in building the production line at Toshiba's Himeji plant in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The initial annual capacity is estimated at 75,000 units in 2007, 150,000 units in 2008, and over three million units in 2010.
