Pioneer to Build New PDP TV Plant in Japan
August 07, 2006
Japanese Pioneer has announced plans to construct a new PDP (Plasma Display Panel) TV plant in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, for approximately 30 billion Yen (US$262 million; US$1=114.7 Yen). The facility is expected to begin operation in 2007 fiscal year, which runs through March 2008, with the initial annual capacity of 300,000 units. Once the annual capacity of the new plant reaches one million units as Pioneer has expected, Pioneer's total PDP TV capacity will double, to nearly two million units a year.
