Sony Develops Low-Power, Small-Sized LTPS TFT-LCD Panel
July 07, 2006
According to Nikkei Report, Sony has developed low-power, small-sized LTPS (Low Temperature Poly Silicon) TFT-LCD panels aimed for portable devices. By improving driving circuits, Sony is able to produce LTPS TFT-LCDs that consume about 25% less power than existing models. Sony also managed to reduce the space occupied by control circuits by 14%, thus making more room for the display area on the screen. This new panel, to be used in handsets and portable gaming consoles, is planned for volume production in 2007.
