China Mobile's Xiamen office, Philips, Nokia, and Xiamen-based E-Tong Card recently announced that they will initiate China's first NFC (Near Field Communication) test in Xiamen, China, which will focus on mobile payment services. A total of 100 people will participate in the trial test, which will run for two to three months and further expand to other Chinese cities in 2006. NFC is a technology developed by Sony and Philips for short-distance wireless connectivity in order to facilitate data exchanges between all sorts of consumer electronics devices.
