KDDI, BT to Form JV
June 30, 2006
Japan's KDDI and BT of the UK announced they will form a joint venture in August to provide global communications network and outsourcing services, targeted mainly at multinational Japan-based corporations. Tentatively named KDDI&BT Solutions, the new entity is to have some 100 employees in the initial phase with a capital of 1.5 billion Yen (US$12.9 million; US$1=116 Yen), and is estimated to yield sales revenue of 5.0 billion Yen (US$43 million) in its first business year. The new company will cover services from building voice and data infrastructures, construction of corporate LANs (Local Area Network), to setting up servers and teleconference systems. Plans for expansion outside Japan and forays into wireless communication are also part of the future scenario.
