MTNL to Set Up WiMAX Trial Networks in India

Indian telecom MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam) has announced it plans to deploy WiMAX networks, with trial runs scheduled in Delhi and Mumbai and commercialization slated to kick off after TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) assigns spectrum for WiMAX services. Initially, the WiMAX services will be launched in places where copper networks are not available and then in other regions, according to MTNL.
