Group Formed to Develop Standard Interface for NAND Flash

Companies including Intel, Hynix, Micron, and Sony recently announced that they have formed the Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) Working Group, with an attempt to simplify integration of NAND flash memory in consumer electronics devices and computing platforms by developing a standard semiconductor interface. Specifications of the interface by the ONFI Working Group are expected to be completed in the second half of 2006.
