Corning to Expand 8G Substrate Capacity in Japan
May 05, 2006
Corning has announced that it will spend US$174 million to expand the capacity of its Shizuoka plant, which mainly produces substrates for large-size flat-panel TVs, starting in late 2006. As Corning has been selected by Sharp as a glass substrate supplier, the expansion is mainly aimed to address the need of Sharp's 8G LCD panel plant located in Mie, Japan, which is currently under construction and will start operation in late 2006.
