Elpida, FTD to Set Up R&D Center in India

Japanese Elpida will set up a joint venture with Singapore's FTD (Future Techno Designs) in India for designing and developing various types of DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) used in consumer electronics and computing products. The new company, named Edison Semiconductor, will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of FTD, and it is expected US$25 million will be invested in the new company over the next three years.
