Taiwanese CMO and Delta Electronics have agreed to set up a joint venture with a combined capital of NT$2 billion. Named Delta-CMO Optoelectronics, the new company will produce backlight modules for TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panels using FFL (Flat Fluorescent Lamp) technology, and mass production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2007. CMO and Delta will hold a 40% share each, with the remaining 20% held by Delta's subsidiary Delta Optoelectronics and employees of the joint venture.
