Realtek to Enter Digital TV IC Market

Taiwanese Realtek recently announced it plans to enter the market for TV ICs. Initially, the company will manufacture chips for the European digital TV standard DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) and target its products at the Chinese market, where this standard is being used. Realtek first wants to establish a solid presence in this segment before it tries to expand its TV IC operations to the US ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) digital TV standard.
