Japanese Asahi Glass said on Wednesday February 15 that it plans to increase its annual production of LCD glass substrates from the current amount of 22 million square meters to 37 million square meters by 2007. In order to be able to do this, the company plans to invest 25 billion Yen to build a new kiln at its plant in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, which will have an annual capacity of five million square meters. Asahi also said it plans an investment of 30 billion Yen in its facilities in Taiwan to increase capacity.
