Toshiba Exits Rear-Projection TV Business in Europe, China

According to a report by Japanese Jiji Press on December 27, Toshiba has exited the rear-projection television business in both Europe and China, including production and sales, instead focusing on flat-panel TVs in those regions. In Europe demand for rear-projection TVs is rather weak, while in China the company is facing fierce competition from local makers. The report stated that the company will continue manufacturing and selling rear-projection televisions in the United States, as demand there is still strong enough to support this product segment.
