Samsung, LPL's 7G Line to Ramp Up in 2006

Samsung's second 7G line in Tangjeong, Korea, will start operation in 2006, with the first phase slated for April and the second phase for July, each phase with an added monthly capacity of 45,000 substrates. Meanwhile, Samsung and Sony have decided to increase the monthly capacity of their first 7G line by 15,000 units from the current 60,000 units, starting July 2006. The two 7G lines will bring Samsung a combined capacity of 165,000 units. In addition to Samsung, the second phase of LG Philips LCD's P7 line is expected to ramp up in the third quarter of 2006, which will be able to process 45,000 units per month initially.
