Electronics Companies to Unify PC-TV Connection Interface
December 23, 2005
Several electronics companies, including Intel, Apple, National Semiconductor, and Silicon Image, as well as other Asian players, such as LG, Samsung, FCI, Foxconn, and JAE Electronics, are developing a standardized interface called UDI (Unified Display Interface) in replacement of VGA (Video Graphics Array), to simplify the connection between PCs and consumer electronics. UDI will be compatible with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), an interface for content protection. Silicon Image has predicted that PCs with UDIs will emerge in two years.
