December 09, 2005
According to an announcement by Matsushita on December 2, the company will increase production capacity at its PDP plant in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan in July 2006, four months earlier than the projected date of November 2006. The plant, which only recently started operations, currently has a production capacity of 125,000 units per month, and this figure is expected to grow to about 250,000 units after production capacity will have been boosted in July 2006. Matsushita has two other PDP production facilities, and total PDP output is expected to rise to 425,000 units with the added capacity.

Furthermore, FHP (Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display), owned 80.1% by Hitachi and 19.9% by Fujitsu, said on December 7 that it will move forward the start of mass production at its new PDP plant in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, by three months to October 2006. FHP has invested 85 billion Yen in the plant, which will have an initial production capacity of 100,000 units per month.
