Sony and oil distributor Idemitsu Kosan announced on November 29 that they have reached an initial agreement whereby the two companies will jointly develop materials for OLED panels. Sony and Idemitsu Kosan will mutually use each company's patents for the development of the materials, and they will especially focus on improving power efficiency, brightness, and durability of OLED panels. They are expected to sign a formal agreement in January 2006.
