Samsung has developed the world's largest 7-inch flexible TFT LCD panel, which is twice as large as its 5-inch flexible LCD panel released in January 2005. The use of a transparent plastic substrate, which is thinner, lighter, and more durable than glass substrates, is capable of rendering the same color and resolution when it is bent. Samsung has also overcome the heat sensitivity problem for plastic substrates through a low-temperature production process. However, due to its darker and less colorful screen than conventional LCD panels, Samsung has not decided to start mass production on the flexible LCD panels.
