ZTE, Cisco Team Up for Asia-Pacific Market
November 25, 2005
ZTE and Cisco have signed an agreement to partner for the development of NGN (Next Generation Network) and 3G products, and data communication equipment aimed at telecom carriers and enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan. The partnership combines ZTE's operations in fixed-line and wireless communications and Cisco's routing and data communication technologies. This move is expected to have an impact on the joint venture between Huawei and 3Com, which was established in 2003 and which targets similar markets as the partnership between ZTE and Cisco. Whether the cooperation between Cisco and ZTE will eventually develop into a joint venture was not yet clear.
