LPL (LG.Philips) recently announced it has started purchasing equipment for the second phase of mass production at its 7G TFT-LCD plant in Paju, Korea. Production lines set up in the first phase are expected to start operating in the first quarter of 2006, with a monthly capacity of 45,000 units. Production lines for the second phase, which will be launched in the third quarter of 2006, are forecasted to boost the total monthly capacity to 90,000 units by the first quarter of 2007. LPL plans to focus on 32-, 37-, 42- and 47-inch LCD panels for use in LCD TVs, as the LCD TV market is experiencing strong growth.
