Seven Panel Makers to Invest NT$160 billion in Taiwan in 2006

According to forecasts by the Taiwanese Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, in 2006 seven panel makers will make investments in Taiwan with a combined worth of at least NT$160 billion, with investments focusing on sixth and seventh generation production lines. Investments in key panel components such as glass substrates are expected to total at least NT$30 billion to NT$40 billion. The Industrial Development Bureau also stated that in 2005 investments in the overall Taiwanese panel industry already total NT$260 billion, surpassing the government's original goal of NT$203 billion for the full year.
