Samsung Develops 1026CH DDIs for High Resolution LCD Panels

Samsung has developed a 1026-channel display driver IC for high-definition LCD panels, with performance levels 60% higher than 642-channel ICs and 170% higher than 384-channel ICs. Instead of the ten ICs traditionally used, the driver IC can process with only four ICs, which cuts down costs and power consumption. It adopts Samsung's proprietary Advanced-COF (Chip-on-Film) technology which reduces the pad pitch inside the IC to 25um, thus decreasing the chip size and the defective rate during manufacturing. Samsung plans to develop several other display driver ICs with Advanced-COF in 2006.
