AMD to License x86 Technology to Chinese Academia, Gov't

AMD has signed an MOU with Chinese MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology), under which AMD will offer its low-power x86 micro-processor design technology to Peking University. AMD will gain profit from licensing the x86 processor to commercial entities designated by MOST and Peking University. AMD is also guaranteed the access to IP derived from the licensed technology and the alternative to invest in Chinese enterprises which develop AMD Geode processor technology.
