Kuraray Claims Factory Fire Causes No Impact on PVA Supply
September 30, 2005
Kuraray, a major PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) supplier with nearly 90% market share, suffered a factory fire at its Okayama plant in Japan on September 9. The fire might affect the LCD panel industry, as PVA is used in polarizers, which are key components of LCD panels. However, Kuraray itself, backed by polarizer maker Optimax, has announced that it expects no major setbacks in supply as it has increased production at some of its other factories.
