TMD Introduces LCD Panel Allowing Data Input with Optical Pen
September 29, 2005
TMD (Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology) has developed an LCD panel on which users can write using an optical pen, thus circumventing the use of a touch screen which is currently needed to input data into an LCD panel. Equipped with an optical sensor and processor, the LCD panel is able to locate input from the optical pen. TMD plans to start mass production of the 3.5" LCD panel with QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 in the fiscal year 2006, and the company stated the panel can be used in devices such as PDAs.
