Citizen Develops Thin LCD Backlight

The Japanese company Citizen Electronics has developed one of the world's thinnest backlights for LCDs. The device, which is only 0.65mm thick, is 23% thinner than the company's existing modules. Citizen has developed a 2.4-inch and a 1.8-inch model, including a model which emits light from both sides. Mass production will start in January 2006.
