Chi Mei to Focus on Branded LCD TVs

Chi Mei's subsidiary Nexgen will add a new business unit that focuses on own-branded LCD TV production. Currently, 80% of Nexgen's revenues derive from OEM/ODM business. After shifting focus to own-branded production Nexgen hopes to reverse this ratio, with own-brand accounting for 80% and OEM/ODM for 20%. Chi Mei also intends to sell its Polyvision LCD TVs under another brand name while expanding the brand's scope beyond Taiwan to Europe and the US starting 2006.
