Samsung Planning Over 7-Fold Increase in 40" LCD Production

According to a statement by Samsung, the company plans to boost monthly output of 40-inch LCDs to 150,000 units in the fourth quarter of 2005, up from 20,000 in the second quarter, when production on the 40-inch models started. Also, the company plans to open a second factory for 40-inch LCDs in the first half of next year in Tangjeong, Korea, as Samsung expects these models to become the main part of its LCD product line. LG.Philips is expected to start a 42-inch LCD production line in the first half of next year.
