BOE Hydis Rolls Out Higher Performance LCD Panels
August 24, 2005

BOE-Hydis has successfully developed mobile PC LCD panels with higher brightness and lower power consumption. BOE-Hydis' new DRIM (Data Rendering Innovation Matrix) technology designed for 10.4-inch XGA LCD panels gives the panels a brightness of 240cd/m2 and contrast ratio of 600:1. BOE-Hydis is applying a new pixel structure where the green pixels remain the same size but the red and blue pixel sizes are doubled, as the human eye is more sensitive to green than it is to blue or red. Combined with BOE-Hydis' sub pixel rendering technology, the brightness is increased by 30% and energy consumption decreases by 20%, according to the company. AFFS (Advanced-Fringe Field Switching) technology that supports a 180-degree display angle for both horizontal and vertical viewing angles is also adopted in this new LCD Panel.
